Jeffco Human Services Foundation Welcomes New Board Member Marybeth Goodwin

Marybeth Goodwin is a mother of three, and she's also a philanthropist.

So when the Community First Foundation of Jefferson County, Colo., asked her to join its board, it wasn't a big surprise.

"As a mother of three daughters, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to Jefferson County, and Jeffco Prosperity Partners' (JPP) mission is near and dear to my heart," Goodwin said in a statement, per the Denver Post.

That's because the foundation is one of several local nonprofits working to break the cycle of generational poverty in the county, which has one of the nation's highest rates of poverty.

One such program, called Jeffco Prosperity Partners, uses a "two-generation" approach in which parents and their children work together to get out of poverty.

Goodwin, who joined the foundation as a program officer in April 2021, says she's been impressed by the work of the two-generation program.

"Her parental perspective, combined with her dedication and enthusiasm for creating positive changes in our community, make her a valuable addition to our organization," says the president of the foundation's board of directors.
